Small dish in Chinese Porcelain, China Trade, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), Yongzheng Period (1723-1735). Decorated in Famille Rose enamels, the center depicts a large peony, symbol of spring, love, affection, and feminine beauty, accompanied by other floral motifs. To its left, a blue basket contains the three sacred fruits: the Buddha’s hand citron, symbolizing Buddha’s hand; the peach, symbolizing marriage, informality, and spring; and the pomegranate, fruit of happiness and symbol of fertility and immortality. The rim is decorated with a lobed frieze with a scale pattern background, accompanied by different types of flowers, including peonies and lotus flowers (one of the “Eight Buddhist Emblems”, a symbol of purity). On the edge, next to the lobed frieze, there is a fine frieze with vegetal motifs in bianco sopra bianco.
